Every year, we open our doors to thank our customers and invite the community to experience what happens behind the scenes at Marin Sanitary Service. Bring the whole family for a day of discovery, education, and fun as we celebrate how we’re Better Together through recycling, composting, and community partnerships.

Better Together celebrates the partnerships that help keep Marin County clean, from our customers and employees to local nonprofits and community organizations. Customer Appreciation Day is our chance to open our doors, share what we do, and thank the community for being part of it.

Experience the inspiring Recycled Orchestra of Cateura performing on instruments made from recycled materials.

Free Compost
9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Bring a container and take home up to 64 gallons while supplies last.

Document Shredding
9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Securely shred one banker box or grocery bag of personal documents for free.

Textile Drop-Off
9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Recycle clothing and textiles with Goodwill SF Bay.

QUARTERLY Community Tour

We’re planning our next Community Tour and will announce the date soon.

Come meet our team and take a behind-the-scenes look at what happens after your garbage, recycling, and compost leave the curb. You’ll see our facilities in action, learn where materials go, meet the animals at Flying Can Ranch, and have plenty of time to ask questions along the way.

Customer Appreciation Day 2025: A Celebration of Community and Sustainability

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this unforgettable day of music, learning, and community. More than 700 people attended the event!

From dancing along with the incredible Recycled Orchestra of Cateura to touring our recycling facility (with more than 150 people participating), attendees helped make the day a true celebration of sustainability. More than 70 kitchen compost pails were distributed, 13 inspiring community partners connected with visitors, and guests enjoyed a fun photo booth courtesy of Desire to Inspire Studios and a stage provided by CMS Rents. In addition, 249 customers picked up compost and 165 brought documents to shred.

We were grateful to our customers, partners, and neighbors for making the event such a memorable success.

Customer Appreciation Day 2024 Highlights

At this annual fall event, we celebrate our customers by opening our facility for tours, workshops, giveaways, and free compost.

This year we had an amazing turnout!

We welcomed nearly 500 people to our Marin Sanitary Service facilities.
Provided facility tours for over 200 attendees, showcasing what happens to the materials collected in your carts.
Gave away 100 cubic yards of compost made from the compostables we collect
Hosted 10 local community organizations and partners who shared valuable sustainability information.

Your commitment to a greener Marin was truly inspiring, and we’re deeply grateful for your support!
