We welcome our community to tour our San Rafael facility or participate in one of our public events like our annual Customer Appreciation Day. Here you’ll learn about sustainability through reducing, reusing, recycling, and composting garbage, conserving our resources, and making better purchasing choices! Our tours and events offer a unique learning experience for children and adults alike.

What an Incredible Day

Thank you for joining us at Customer Appreciation Day 2025

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this unforgettable day of music, learning, and community. We hosted over 700 attendees this year!

From dancing along with the incredible Recycled Orchestra of Cateura to touring our recycling facility (with more than 150 people taking part), you helped make this event a true celebration of sustainability. We also gave out over 70 kitchen compost pails, connected with 13 inspiring community partners, and enjoyed a fun photo booth thanks to Desire to Inspire Studios and a stage provided by CMS Rents. Plus, 249 customers picked up compost and 165 brought documents to shred!

We’re so grateful to our customers, partners, and neighbors for making this day such a success.

At this annual fall event, we celebrate our customers by opening our facility for tours, workshops, giveaways, and free compost.

This year we had an amazing turnout!

We welcomed nearly 500 people to our Marin Sanitary Service facilities.
Provided facility tours for over 200 attendees, showcasing what happens to the materials collected in your carts.
Gave away 100 cubic yards of compost made from the compostables we collect
Hosted 10 local community organizations and partners who shared valuable sustainability information.

Your commitment to a greener Marin was truly inspiring, and we’re deeply grateful for your support!

COMMUNITY TOURS

Our Community Tours are scheduled, weekend events and consist of our normal facility tour with one special addition: a Green Can Composting Workshop.

At this Green Cart Composting Workshop, immediately following your tour we will talk about which materials belong in your green compost cart, why it’s important to use this cart, as well as address any questions or concerns that you might have.

Marin Sanitary Service customers who attend this workshop (in addition to the tour) will be eligible to receive one free kitchen compost pail per household.
