DEBRIS BOX / DUMPSTER RENTALS

• All boxes may be kept for six (6) days. Boxes will be automatically removed on the seventh day. A nominal fee will be applied to boxes kept beyond the six-day limit.
• Licensed contractors are exempt from any time limits when ordering 10 yard and 18 yard general debris boxes and 5 yard dirt boxes. All other boxes will be removed on the seventh day.
• Prices on debris boxes subject to change.
• Boxes must be placed in a legal parking area.
  Boxes cannot be left in red zone parking areas or where overnight parking is prohibited.
• You may be required by the city/town/county to obtain an encroachment permit anytime you wish to perform any work in the public right-of-way such as a public street or sidewalk. This is your responsibility and cannot be handled by MSS. A permit is not needed for boxes placed on private property.
• Each container has tonnage limits, if the box exceeds the tonnage limit there will be extra fees per ton.
• No hazardous waste materials are allowed in any kind of debris box.

Hazardous materials may not be placed in a debris box, but can be disposed of for a fee for commercial customers or free of charge for residential customers at the Marin Household Hazardous Waste Facility.

No Treated Wood Waste
As of January 1, 2021, waste haulers in the County of Marin cannot accept treated wood waste at their facilities, in their debris boxes, or in the garbage, recycling, or composting bins as treated wood is now considered hazardous waste.

An encroachment permit may be required by the city/town/or county to have a debris box placed in the public right-of-way such as a public street or walk-way. The purpose of the permit is to ensure that applicable standards are followed and that work is done safely with minimal impact to nearby property and pedestrian, bicycle, and vehicle travel.

MSS cannot offer permits. Please check with the city or town you live in for the rules.

This does not apply to boxes placed on private property.
